The Victim Quick Response Program+ is a financial support program intended to support direct victims, their immediate family members, and witnesses in the immediate aftermath of violent crimes by providing short-term financial support with essential expenses as a result of the crime. The program is intended to lessen the impact of the crime, enhance safety, and meet immediate practical needs arising from the crime. VQRP+ is a program of last resort, and all publicly funded and other financial options must be explored prior to utilizing VQRP+ funding. It is important to note that Victim Services pays for supports directly, and finances are not provided directly to victims.
Eligibility for this program must be explored with Victim Services Wellington staff, as there is a set of criteria that must be met prior to providing financial assistance. For example, there are strict timelines that need to be met in order to qualify for funding.
